Summertime Dreamin'

M and I are sitting on the couch watching "Man V. Food".  Kind of a mean show to have available on sattelite TV, right?  Adam is at a restaurant in Baltimore with some pretty good-looking barbeque.  YUM.  Here's the conversation that followed in our living room:

B: "When we're home this summer, we need to go to Montgomery Inn or Famous Dave's.  I know they're not on the same level, but I get the pulled pork and they're both good."
M: Significant look.
B: "Oh yeah, you're going to Alabama [on a business trip].  Never mind."
M: "And Nashville."
B: "Yum.  Toots!"

Pause while we watch the people on TV moan & groan while they eat delicious American food.

B: "No disrespect to this place [on TV], but we need to eat Arby's."
M: "Haha!  Yum!  C will be so happy."
B: "Oh, potato cakes.  So good!"
M: "And a turnover!"
B: "Know what I wanted this morning? An apple fritter from Farm Hills Donuts."

These conversations are pretty regular in our house.  The kids even participate.  Friends & Family, if you want to see us this summer, you may need to expand your out-to-eat budget because there are A LOT of places that we want to eat!!  Some examples are:

Max & Erma's
Olga's
Penn Station
Arby's
Graeter's
Guernsey's
The Ice Cream Shop (at the lake)
Bigg Burger
LaRosa's
Pizzapapolis
Skyline Chili (M made me add this - gross! Not even China could make me want Skyline!)
Pizza Hut
Big Boy
Red Lobster (cheddar bay biscuits!)
Miller's
Zoup
Bode's
Izzy's
Compari's
Bates
El Coyote Loko
Any Coney Island

I also wish I could eat at Johnnie's, but Oklahoma is not on our list - sorry guys.  Doing the quick math here, we'll have to eat out about 3 times a week to get it all in!  That's just me & the kids.  I guess we'll be eating out daily when M's in town.  Yikes!  M has lost 10 pounds in China.  He may have reason for his fear of gaining it back in one swift trip home.  Man V. Food might not have anything on us!

  1. I have to say, that ever since I moved to Cincy, I get regular cravings for Skyline, and my daughter loves it. Maybe you just have to live here it like it. :)
